Suzuki DT85 won't idle down

Just doing some backyard maint. and when I ran the motor up to 3500 rpm I could not get the idle back down using the throttle. Is this a cable problem or something sticking with the linkage? When I idled up using the linkage it did the same thing. Shutting the motor off resets it. Any ideas out there?? Thanks

if u rev that motor up in neutral it is not good for it
