Im looking into the portable engine EFI from Suzuki. I specifically want the DF9.9BTS in remote, since my 13' skiff is already rigged with a small center console.

I was wondering if anyone knew why they do not offer the 15/20HP in remote with a short shaft? It appears there is a 20HP model with remote in 20" long shaft.

At the weight of the three, it would seem silly to purchase the 9.9HP remote ($2800) compared to a 20HP tiller ($2750)... However, after having a tiller on the boat a few years ago, I really dont want to go back...

Does anyone know if they make tiller to remote conversions for the Suzuki portable EFI models? I really couldnt care less about the electric start as I run battery-less anyways. If not it seems like I might have to pony up and get 1/2 the power for the 9.9HP.

For reference, the boat had an 8HP tiller Tohatsu in the past and it planed with 2 people. The new Suzuki 9.9HP has 20cubic inches so power will be fine.

EDIT: After doing some longer research, it seems the conversion kits for the 15/20 DF XX A models costs about 750 + the 450 for the control box. Adding up to over $1000. Puts me in a tricky position since the 9.9HP is $2800, and the 20HP with remote and 20" shaft is $3400, roughly 6-$700 difference (which is a lot of money to me) My boat has a manual jack plate installed but I fear that the 20" shaft might still be sitting too low..
