Re: suzuki no high end
ok
test the compression.
test the spark while testing compression.
then clean the carbs and clean them well. those mikunis tolerate NO trash nor varnish.
once we have verified the cylinders can seal and the ign system can generate spark its on to the next issue.
that system had an oil alarm. if it was not correctly disabled it will missfire above about 1500 RPM.
need to check the flow alarm,if applicable, and the level alarm for proper disabling.
but usually its in the carbs.
they are very very touchy.
you can make a homemade spark tester very easily.
I think I will buy a digital cam and recreate the one I built in south america for a mechanic there. some plug wire, steel core, some brads, with some copper pipe hanging strap and a piece of 2x4.
take a piece of 2x4 3/4 x4 should work but the brads may go through.
tack the pipe hanger down the center leaving an inch or so hanging off.
nail the plug wires to the board with the ends about 3/8-7/16ths from the strip. attache a wire or a gator clip to the strap you left haning off.
peel back about 3/8ths of the insulaton at the other end of the plug wire and lay the wire back against the wire insulation.
plug the wire in the spark plug cap and its good
to go. here in the states I would have put terminals on the plug wire ends but where I was that day we did what we could with what was avalible.
