I 've got a '90 DT115, runs o.k. at wot for about 2 minutes then shuts down to about 2k-2.5k. No problems with temp or any other limiters. Does run alittle rough at idle after the shutdown, so I have to keep wot to get back to the dock. wondering if it is the power pack.

mine did the same ..... are you sure your warning tach is working properly, it will only drop the rpm if there is a heat warning ..... I had a crack in my waterpump housing (but I did get the warning lights) ..... or check and see if your oil tank is filled, If I don't keep mine filled it will give a similar problem .......

I had the water flow sensor go out a few years ago, so it isn't any of the warning lights or oil problem, it really seems like a power pack, or the coils on the plug wires, does it only if I am at high rpm. I just don't know how to tell which one or how to check for the rite one. On your oil problem, have you ever cleaned the oil screen? Iused quicksilver tcw3 or what ever is their best oil, and the screen would jelly up, and cause the oil sensor to keep the engine at low rpm. Started using amsoil and no problems yet.

I should clean it, but I have so many boats I don't have time to get round to it, that is why I keep it filled for now, the easiest way for me, but thanx for the tip ..... I doubt it could be the power pack or coils as it will show a problem in any rpm not just WOT, you will need to check all sensors ... maybe a thermostat that doesn't open all the way ......
