I have a 75 Hp Suzuki that I can't seem to start. I have gone thru the procedure of priming bulb, turning key adn holding choke for 8 seconds and then trying to start. No luck.<br /><br />Only way to get it to fire up is to spray fuel directly into carbs..Fires right away. Is my start up procedure wrong?

Howdy, derkkd.<br /><br />Go to Engine FAQs and check it out.<br /><br />Your procedure may be wrong or you may have a carb problem.<br /><br />Good luck, and let us know what you find. :)

you have to hold the key in while you are turning over the motor. If it doesn't stay running after you get it fired, you probably have dirty carbs.

Hi,<br /><br />Are all the choke plates closing?<br /><br />Check for leaks at carb -> intake, <br />carbs, fuel pump, etc.<br /><br />"Holding choke for 8 seconds"<br /><br />Does the engine have a primer instead of choke plates? <br /><br />Robbi

Re: Suzuki Won't Start

Had the same problem with a Suzuki 85. Spoke with a mechanic and he said some Suzukis choke butterflies didn't close enough under battery power and that I should try using manual choke. Problem solved! So then I adjusted solenoid that pulls choke closed to make sure *** was really pulling butterflies all the way closed and the problem ws fixed. Make sure battery is fully charged also-solenoid needs a good jolt of power-

My old 115 was the same way- At least till it blew sky high 2 weeks ago. Try this- Turn the key on, then push in for choke before you turn the key to start. I found the solinoid would stay activated while starting but sometimes wouldn't come on if the starter was drawing juice. A good battery is a must. The ignition needs right near 12 volts to fire right, which it may not be getting with a weak battery with the starter engaged.<br /><br /><br />Jay
