I'm considering buying this 1986 125 Force to swap the main motor top half with my 1989 that came with my 89 boat. It currently has a crack in the block. Will they match up and work?
Even if this is the older white motor '86 and mine is the newer black motor '89? I'm going to pick it up for $500 today and can't find any site or manual that can say for sure.
Crack is on the port side of the engine right over a piston. Not really a crack but a missing peice of block about 1/2 wide. I bought this 86 one but found it is 5 inches shorter than my origional. So guess I'll have to do the power house swap... Oh well more work means I learn more about the engine.
Courious... What benefit is there of having a trim? My current motor does not have one nor does it have mounting holes. Should I drill some and swap it too?
The tilt/trim unit saves your back, and helps you adjust the boat while on plane to acheive proper performance. In my opinion swapping the unit over to the good motor is a no brainer.
