Swapping inner transom plate on a mc 1 to alpha 1

Just curious if it would work to swap a mc1 sterndrive inner transom plate to an alpha one? I have the mc1 and want to swap to a 1.9alh TDI. And using a Chevy bell housing for me is super easy to get a swap kit for the TDI, assuming I can use the 153 tooth flywheels with the flywheel coupler that bolts on like a tourqe converter.
Something like 12632A 6 Id that would fit the Chevy flywheel

As long as the MC1 (what everybody incorrectly calls a 'pre-alpha') has the round trim senders on the gimbal ring, the later inner place will bolt directly onto it.
