Good evening. Received my long block today, and I have started my build, but found that the oil baffle on the old engine can't be installed on the new engine until I swap out the standard main cap bolts for the long ones from the old block. My question is kind of basic, but I don't want to do anything wrong: Can i swap one bolt at a time on each cap or is it best to loosen both on the same cap and then retorque both before moving on to another cap?

This is a SBC 350 2 bolt main

I would loosen both and then re-torque both.

Why do you need the baffle? Forget about it!

Why? Why would one bother with a Windage tray in any motor you're looking for HP?
