Had a question Someone maybe able to answer. Has anyone fabbed up a front motor mount for a 4.3 mercruiser like the 3.0? Any reason I shouldn’t do it that way? Not sure if it had to much torque to maybe do it that way? My boat is a 69 Starcraft holiday.

Why would you want to?

First, it would be a nightmare to align
Second, it wouldnt handle the torque

Seemed easier than building the stringers. I thought maybe a front mount like a jet boat. I thought I seen someone on here with a front mount 4.3 maybe not.

Yeah that’s true. It was just a thought. I could have sworn there was someone that had a factory mounted front mount 4.3. I was trying to find the forum. Maybe I just dreamed it up.

bayliner did side mount 3.0's at the same spacing / location as 4.3's so they could drop in either a 4.3 or a 3.0 into the same boats.

I had found an installation drawing for the 4.3L and made me a template for locating the motor mount supports. To me it sounds much easier to build the mount supports and install them (glue & tab) against the existing stringers.

Maybe that’s what I was thinking of and got it backwards idk. Good possibility. I guess I’ll do like watermann did and pop rivet some side mounts in. Hopefully won’t need to move my stringers.
