Hi Guys,

I just bought a 50th anniversary 14ft Sea Nymph that has a 40hp 2 stroke Johnson on it. It has power trim, electric start and is set up with a steering assembly. A 40hp is a bit overkill for me and I would like a 4 stroke so I would like to sell the 40hp and put on maybe a 25hp 4 stroke. Is swapping out motors that is on a steering assembly easy? What would I need if say I bought a 25hp 4 stroke Johnson or merc?

Also, what is the going price I should as for the Johnson? Its in nice shape and runs well. I would imagine I need to sell the controls with it as well for the buyer?

Thank you!

where you live is a big part of what to ask. in the northeast a 1997 40 HP like you speak of would easily be worth $1000-$1200.

the controls you have might be reusable if you stay with johnson or evinrude.

EASY is a relative word!!!! yes if you have done it before and it isnt all corroded up.....
