This season is going to be different since it will be the first year my dog will be spending time aboard with me.

Since he loves the water and that he is going to be around 150# once he is fully grown. (He is 14 weeks now and weighs 38#) I am not going to be able to lift his large butt out of the water. :(

Does anyone have any suggestions on a modification to my swim deck to let him climb back onboard? Thanks........SS

Re: Swim Deck Modification

Jees Mayfloat, sounds like you need a davit and winch, thats a big dog..... actually though, you could rig up a fold down step/platform that would fold down to about 1 foot below the water surface and the dog could probably learn to climb up on it.............good luck

Re: Swim Deck Modification

I've got a 115 lb Labrador, who is also a blubberbutt. I lowered my swim platform to where it is just even with the water when the boats stopped. Using the fold down steps for his back paws to help lift, he can scramble up on the platform and into the boat. Had to help him by pulling on collar the first few times, but he soon caught on. It was pretty comical at first.
