This may need to go to the restoration section (mods?) but I'll start here. Last year I went to tighten the lower bolts on my swim platform only to have them strip out. They are just 1/4 wood lag bolts going into the transom. Any suggestions on how best to drill, fill, and replace these so I can get the platfrom tight? Thanks

Re: Swim Platform Bolts

My swim platform is bolted thru the transom with a blocking plates behind to to spread the load on each side. I think there are 4 SS bolts on each side going through the transom. Just use bolts big enough to fill the hole left behind and seal them up with some 3M sealant.

+1 to cribber

I would modify it with bolts running through the transome and use a backing plate to spread the load.

That is how mine is installed.

Id like to do that unfortunately two of the bolts would end up below the sole and behind a stringer so I wouldnt be able to get at them.

Re: Swim Platform Bolts

Do you have pics
You can always fill the holes redrill and put the lags back
but I would also put some through bolts in new locations where you can get to the back side and get a nut on it
If you do this then the lags will not back out
