I purchased a used swim platform outboard bracket, ( replacing my old Seadrive). Does anyone know the formula to figure out how high to mount the bracket to the transom? Engine shaft length vs. setback and distance from the plane of the boat bottom? I will be mounting an OMC 25 in. shaft engine to it. Thanks, Treb....

For starters, calculate how high you have to mount it to get the cavitation plate even with the keel of the boat.

Because the engine will set back a ways, the cav. plate can probably be a couple inches higher.

Thanks DJ, I was told that there is a formula that for each ____? inches of setback, you would raise it a 1/2 inch. I was thinking it might be a good idea to install a manual jackplate between the bracket and the engine to make up for any mistakes.
