Hello, I'm looking to get some feed back ideas/comments/suggestions on my near future plans for my 1977 Marquis with a Mercruiser 888. Currently having some trolling issues with this motor and with the help of 5 gallon buckets got the idle speed down a little but dont want this to be a permanent solution so I have decided to go with a kicker. The problem is the swim platform takes up alot of space so this will be removed and maybe later a smaller custom one opposite side of the kicker.

After doing some research and correct me if I'm wrong, This should be done to each screw hole:

1) Drill the hole a size or two bigger to remove any worn/rotten wood
2) sand the area surrounding the hole
3) Fill with Marine Tex Epoxy (Any suggestions on another product you may find higher quality for the job would be appreciated)
4) After drying, sand accordingly
5) Mount kicker bracket as close to stern while allowing clearance of both to function properly

Here are a few pictures of the boat:

If any more pictures are needed please let me know and ill get them. What I'm looking for is any feed back as to what else I should do or what I would be doing wrong before I go drilling into my boat lol Thanks in advance for your help

Myself I would mix up some resin cabisol and 1/4" fibers to fill the holes....sand and fair...touch up with gel coat.

www.uscomposites.com 435 std poly resin..... cabosil and chopped fibers are found in the fillers section.

If you search for peanut butter (that's what we call that mixture) on oops! 's hull extension thread it will give you the recipe ;)

Thank you very much Rick :) If I was to instead remove part of the rails on the front and go with a bow mount, could "peanut butter" fill these holes as well? Just out of curiosity =)

PB is a structural filler....we use it to set stringers bulkheads and decks and filling holes.
