Swim Platform Repair

Recently my swim platform support arms have come loose from the underside of the platform. The support arms were basically being held in by 3 one inch screws but as time has passed the screws have stripped and fallen out. I am wondering if I instead replace the platform arm screws with thru bolts and counter sink in top of platform would there be any future issues? I've seen where this has been done before with other platform installations however since it was not originally done on mine was wondering if it poses any unforeseen risk in doing it this way. Would love to hear thoughts and opinions, successes and failures if you've done this before. Thank You

most likely the wood used as the core of the swim platform has rotted away and the screws have nothing to go into.

so you may have to re-fill the area the wood used to occupy, even if you thru-bolt it.

post a pic so we can better help.
