I'm wanting to put a Swim platform on my Starcraft American outboard boat, I found a deal on a Swim platform but it says it's for a I/O instead of a Outboard.. The only difference I see is that it has 2 handles to grab when you get up and down...

Will this work on my Outboard boat ??

Re: Swim platform ?

If it doesn't span all the way across the back, then it should work. Most I/O platforms I've seen are the width of the boat, and wouldn't work w/ an outboard back there.

Take pictures of whatever you come up with, I'd like to see them. Thinking of making something for the back on my boat for the skiiers.

Same here i would love to see this be a success. Ive been thinking of a small platform with a fold down mini ladder for some time now.

heres what i was looking at, or something similar

Here's what I was looking at... The only problem would be if the motor was to hit the bar..

That's the classic "swim platform" that you can spot on many older boats I/O or Outboard.

These: http://www.swimplatforms.com/products.html would not work on a Outboard. Although I don't see why you couldn't use something like that but with a hole for the motor.

Do you think you could pull off an Extended Swim Platform like you find on an I/O with an Outboard?

Re: Swim platform ?

yuppers....a two parter or one with a center section either raised or removed..(big u shape)..any thing.

all you do is just build the inverted shape outta cheap ply and arbourite it.....wax the arbourite....then roll in gellcoat....3 layers....then glass that shape when the gell is tacky.....after youve added 3 layers of thick cloth...add plywood ribs.....(you bolt the hangers on to this).....then...glass them in.......after its cured ...pull the mold....and you have a perfect peice, in any shape or form you want.....you can add surface texturing.....even the name of the boat.....right in to the gellcoat.

it only yakes a few hours to make the mold....the rest of the time is waighting for things to kick and cure.
