I'm restoring the swim step on my 1992 FourWinns Horizon 200. I removed the wood from the swim step a couple of years ago and the pieces have been in the garage.

Can someone tell me what type of wood this is ?

What would you recommend for restoring it? Sanding + Teak oil?

Something else?

Should I put a little marine sealer into the screw holes in the fiberglass of the swim step before I attach the wood?

Thanks

That's what I thought. So sand it and use Teak Oil to restore it, right?

Just put the teak oil on with a paint brush and let it soak in. It will look fine. I use boiled linseed oil once in the spring and once before I winterize. I never did any prep at all. Yours looks alot better than mine started out. It was white practically. Only thing I did anything to was the ladder steps. I used the green side of a kitchen sponge and scrubbed the oil in before I wiped the excess off. It had a black nasty something build up. Dead algae is what I think it was. Really it just likes being oiled.

Here are the pieces after sanding. Can I do something to get the black color out of the wood?
