Switch plate mounting on old Crestliner runabout?

I'm in the process of restoring both a '63 40hp Evinrude and my 1960 Crestliner Imperial Flying Crest boat. I have the motor just about ready so I'm now turning my attention to installing the wiring harness, junction box, and installing switch/temp plates.

The console/dash of this boat is very cool but I'm looking for ideas on how to mount the switch and temp indicator plates. The console is a "V" shape so mounting those plates directly on the surface doesn't seem like an option. I could mount them below the console, although I think I'd need to fabricate some kind of larger panel to put them on which would stick down quite a ways.

I could probably mount them in the side panels of the boat, although that would be kind of odd, I think. Anyway, suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Re: Switch plate mounting on old Crestliner runabout?

I have very limited space on my gauge panel to add anything. I want to add a stand alone sounder to my dash. I was thinking about using an old school method from my hot rodding days. I'm undecided, depends on how it looks.
We used to use these mounts back in the old days on the dash.

Welcome to iBoats!
I'm tryin real hard to SEE your dash but my OLD eyes are not as good as they used to be. Maybe if you posted some pics, we all could see what you're up against and give you some ideas.

I'm just sayin...:D
