Switch Wiring

OK folks, what is the best way y'all have found to wire two or more switches to one device: ie; bilge pump, aerator, etc.?

I would like to be able to control the device(s) from more than one location independent of the other.

Re: Switch Wiring

Hi djohns,
The best way I can describe it is to wire it like a 3-way light switch. A little simple, but effective with the proper switches.

Rick,

Ahaaa! I was thinking about that. I have a hard time relating AC to DC. Your diagram cleared it up.

Thanks. :)

Re: Switch Wiring

You can also just wire the unit with 2 or more complete seperate circuits.... as in;
switch #1, power to the switch, to the unit, to ground....
switch #2, power to the switch, to the unit, to ground....
and with a bilge pump, power to the float switch, to the unit, to ground.....
this way you don't need wires from switch to switch.....
When any switches are turned on, the power will backfeed to the other switches, But this has NO adverse effects... as a matter of fact, i wired mine this way, now the bilge pump indicator light, lights up even when the autobilge comes on.. good way to monitor any leaks...
