Iv been having problems with my 65 hp mercury not starting today I checked and I was getting no spark on any cylnder when the key is on I get power on the top termenal on the switch box and two in the middle but when I crank the engine over the switchbox was not sending power to one of the trigger wires or the coil pack I think the switchbox is bad and I'm just seeing if anyone has had the same problem or can virify mine. Thanks guys I always appreciate your help

The switchbox doesn't send signal to trigger it receives from. Could be one or more of many things. That is why you should follow trouble shooting chart. Or you can just throw expensive parts at until you get it right.

Well I bought a book for my engine and followed everything I could it says take my switch box and dist. To a mercury shop to get tested so I called the mercury dealer closest to me and they told me they could not test it is there any way to test my trigger? Its a blue black and white wire. What besides the switchbox and triggger what could cause no spark my coil is good I swaped it with another one. I'm just at a loss the boat store wouldn't even workon distbutor engines any test to narrow it down would help I have ohm meter. I know the wireing is good the motor will run iv took it out this year a few times. I also removed the mercury switch on it.

CDIElectronics has an excellent Ignition Trobleshooting Guide available for FREE download on their Support pages. Follow the detailed directions to test your igntion and KNOW what parts is failing.

If it is the trigger, CDI is now making new triggers, however, it is only available with a new dist housing.

WARNING, do NOT attempt to remove the rotor cap, it is part of the distributor shaft, you WILL break it.

don't rule out a possible issue with the harness plug

Check the continuity of each wire going from ign switch to the switch box before you start spending $

B/Y wire is the kill wire on later NON-distributor switchboxes.

Your ignition switch turn on 12V to one of the switchbox wires.

Did you download and read the CDI Troubleshooting Guide, it is all well spelled out for you.
