I have a 15hp Evinrude long shaft E15BLCNC and a 15hp Evinrude E15RCOB as you can see the second motor is not a long shaft. I have determined that the upper grommet on the long shaft motor has calasped and is preventing cooling water to circulate through the motor. I have done all usual steps to try and get cooling water into the motor. The standard length motor cooling system works fine. I removed both lower units and found the long shaft has a longer copper tube extending out the bottom with a long (approx. 3") rubber extension grommet. Can I just put the extension rubber grommet on the standard length tubing along with rest of the lower unit and call it a day or is there something else that need to be address?
