Hi all,

I have a question. I have a 1973 Crestliner Tri-Hull (15ft) with a 1973 Chrysler 70hp outboard on it...it has the original cable steering setup with all the little pulleys and springs and stuff that attach it to the engine and back to the steering wheel.

Anyway..the plastic coated cable is pretty much shot (at least the stuff that's wrapped around the steering wheel drum) and the pulleys and stuff are wearing out. I want to replace it with something aftermarket, that would be fairly easy to install. like a flex cable steering setup or something that would be fairly simple to install. I want to replace the steering wheel and all.

Can anyone reccomend an aftermarket steering setup that could replace the old cable driven steering I currently have, and would be fairly easy to install??? I am thinking something like the NFB rotary system???

Thanks for any input
Dan

The Teleflex NFB system is good and fairly easy to install. Here's the link.

Teleflex

c/6

Hooty

Thanks for the replies guys. I have a couple more questions now.

I just heard from a company that sells the NFB steering setups, and they said, I need to buy either the rotary 4.2 system or the rotary safeT II steering system (which sell for $124.99) then I also need a new steering wheel, which I knew, but what about these other parts? He said I also need a steering tube/bracket(which costs $103) and also a link arm ($30.82)

Is the steering tube/bracket, the same bracket or clamp block you are referring to Johns??? If so, can't I just make my own bracket/clamp block for much less than what they sell for? I can't believe this simple little bracket costs over $100. It would be easy to make.

If you guys could let me know, I'd appreciate some more input from you.

Thanks
Dan :D
