Can someone give me a guess for my boats weight.. It is a 17' Switzercraft fiberglass ski boat, with a 135 Evinrude, and Glide on Trailer..

My guess is:
Boat - 1,500 lbs.
Trailer - 1,000 lbs..

Does this sound about right?

Re: SwitzerCraft estimated weight?

I think you're a little too high. That's a go-fast boat and will be built light.

I would guesstimate 1000 max. for the hull, 350 for the engine, and weight of trailer at 500 lbs Tare. I have a 21 foot trailer with much more massive beams and it's only 998 lbs tare.

Looking at the wheel size I would guestimate about 1500 lbs net weight and 2000 lbs gross on the trailer.

Re: SwitzerCraft estimated weight?

Thank you all for the replies, after reading the post about proper tow vehicles it got me wondering about it.. I shouldn't have any problems then, my Ridgeline is rated to tow 5,000 lbs. Plus it 4x4 so I should be good to go then..

Most any scrap yard, town dump, major recycling agency/center will have a scale.
I would think most any one would weigh your rig for a small fee and give you a slip.

Thank you, there is actually a big recyling center about 15 minutes from here. Place on Towe String Road, by the Indian River Marina.. Some of you all may have heard of it I will call them and see what they say..

Re: SwitzerCraft estimated weight?

You have a real classic there. Early SS. I had a 74 17SS, XS150 Merc
Go join up Yahoo. Then request entry to the "switzercraftgroup"
Bobby Switzer (know him) is on the site, and all the people there are switzer freaks. They can give you the weight to the pound. He made those boats like a brick.
My take is your 500 to high on both figures.
Stop at any truckstop for weight. Any crummy sedan with a half decent motor would pull it no problem. Your ride would yank my 5000lb barge...
