Re: SWM - Need Year of 80 HP Mercury
Your engine is a 1988 80hp

Just my opinion......

The most economical repair is not always the cheapest. Assuming that you know how, repairing the engine yourself is the way to go. But if you have never done it before and just grab a manual and start, you can be asking for trouble. The best thing to do is have the shop repair the damage. Most repair shops offer a warranty on their work as do most parts suppliers. Get an estimate, if you don't like that one, try a different shop. The key here is, get the best "bang for your buck". Someone that will do a quality job on the repair and use OEM quality parts. Also, make sure you have the fuel tank flushed and the carbs cleaned so you don't have the same thing happen a second time!

Good luck.
