1994 sx drive has been sitting for 4 years. The trim pump comes on, but the drive barely moves. So i lifted thendrive fully up, added dextron 2, and tried to cycle it. I can have my son trim it up while I manually raise it, and it will hold where I stop lifting it. It will lower itself but not in a controlled way, but kind of jerky.

What can I do??

I have the same problem, mine will go down and up maybe 1/4 of the way and as it goes up the noise of the motor dies. It goes down no problem other then it slams down. I checked the two solenoids on the rear top of the engine and tested them. They both work one is for up and one is for down so power is going to the tilt motor. One issue I had was a pine cone in the teeth of the tilt sprocket. I greased the two fittings for the tilt swivel but it didn't remedy anything.

btw mine was sitting to but for 7 years. If I make any progress I'll fill you in ;)

Ok, just filled the reservoir with about 12 oz of ATF while I had the drive all the way up, and cycled it up and down. Made sure the drive could go all the way down (parked boat transom over ditch), and then ran drive all the way up with assistance by me. After the second cycle it worked by itself and did not bounce at all. One more thing fixed, getting closer to the water! (Yes I know the fluid had to leak somewhere, and I saw greasy stuff at the end of both trim cylinders, but no fresh fluid is leaking so far.)
