SX-M 1.97 upper lower outer drive fit 1.79?

Hello,
Severe damage to lower drive. No insurance. Mechanic working on boat suffered blood clots passed away. Picked up boat found upper and lower in a 2 boxes completely taken apart. Family stated they are unsure if all parts belong to my boat. Question I have can 1.97 ratio sx-m fit 1.79 ratio? 1.79 is original drive

the drive ratio on volvos is all in the lower. the upper transmission is the same across the board for the series of drives.

Could I buy used upper and lower have it mounted on existing engine? Will they need to do anything additional procedure?

Had mechanic look at the box said he sees parts that belong to mercury engine not sure if it all belongs to same drive. Also there is rust on some of the gear parts.

Talk to the people at All American Drivers in IL or Michigan. Around there.

They can rebuild what you have. You will like a like new drive with a 2 year warranty.

I had mine put on a pallet, sent to them, they rebuilt it and returned it on a pallet.
