Would love to swap out my SX-M outdrive for a DPS outdrive. First of all is it possible, secondly how difficult is the change over to do, and thirdly what would be the net cost in doing so, assuming I could sell my SX-M to offset the cost. Anybody done it?

changed mine about 3 years ago. You only need to change your lower half. your engine size will determine your ratio needed.
i have a 5.0 gl-e, with a 1.95 outdrive.

I found one on ebay for 1500, had a local volvo shop chech everything and change all seals, that cost me 1000, the universal joint had to be changed plus other miner repairs. So all together 2500. I kept my sx for 1 year till i knew the dp was running properly and then sold it for 1200. Total out of pocket was 1300, I WAS LUCKY.
Its definetly worth changing, planes out faster and stays on plane at a lower rpm, plus no prop walk when going in reverse.
Now that i have one i will never go back.

Just curious, and wondering if you have the 5.7 or7.4 Mpi engine. I have a 21' Rinker with a 350 Mag 300hp. and Alpha drive that I took to Lake Powell with Eight big people. It had a hard time to get up on plane. I also have a 21' Chaparral with a 7.4 Mpi with 310 h.p. and a Duoprop, and the difference in time to plane is amazing. I like everything about the Duoprop. Low speed handling, no more wander at wake speed, can plane at 23 mph, no bowrise when starting. I understand economy is app. 12-15% better also. Next time I'm taking the Chaparral to Powell.I did own a 23' Seaswirl that had a 350 Mpi 280 hp. that seemed to ventilate the prop on turns and full throttle starts. Your 24' boat may want more hp. I boat at 4500 ' and that sucks up the H.P. Good luck, you will notice a big difference.
