My boat is a Glastron SX175 witha 3.0L Volvo engine and an SX sterndrive (2004).

I have pulled the drive to grease the bearing and check the ujoints, everything is silky smooth (35hours from new). I want some help with checking the alignment, It has not been done before and i dont want to create a problem, currently every thing with the engine and drive is fine, but having read a few post alignment looks like it should be checked every year - :(

I have my alignment bar, but before i start i wanted to understand the correct proceedure, i have check the volvo drive manual, and it just says the bar should slide in and out smoothly. If it does not, which mounts should i start adjusting and by how much, the engine has two mounts front and back each one has a large nut on the top which i assume needs to be slackened.

Re: SX Sterndrive Alignment

The front mounts get adjusted up or down. Best thing to do is put grease on the end of the alignment bar and push it in the coupler. Turn it a few times and push it in and out a couple times. The reason for this is the old grease may be hard and could cause the bar to bind a bit. Moving the bar around usually cures that problem.
Then regrease the alignment bar. (a thin layer 1mm or less will work fine) push the bar in and pull straight back out. It should pull out very easily. Then look at the marks. They should be even all around the bar.
