symptoms of worn out motor mounts?

Just wondering what the symptoms are of this? My moter seems to jiggle on the transom more than any other motor i have ever seen. It is more of a side to side motion than any other. Just wondering what the symtoms are of motor mounts being worn out or needing replacing are??? Kind of freaks a person out that their motor looks like a bobble head doll on the transom in the rear-view mirror. thanks for any info,<br /><br />Steve

Tell us more about the engine. Kind, HP, year, etc.

It could be the mounts are shot/loose or it could be the big nut on the bottom of the pivot shaft. Not very easy to get at. <br /><br />If the top mount is OK then its most likely the nut.

Is there any way to inspect the mounts and how does one go at getting access to that bottom nut, any idea on what the torque should be? Thanks for the info,<br /><br />Steve
