Synthetic gear oil?

Whats the best synthetic gear oil i can run in my alpha one? Also i do not know if the previous owner was using standard or synthetic oil, will using synthetic effect this in any negative way? Thanks

Merc's Hi Performance gear lube.

I've used Merc and Mobil 1. Both excellent. No problems. If it is a new drive, use Merc until warranty is out.<br /><br />Keep the oil in and the water out and you are good to go.

2nd Don S's reply. The merc stuff is the slipperyest, stickyest, lube i have found. my dealer told me that the normal merc gear lube and the newer synthetic should not be mixed. the case needs to be drained if the older lube is in it. you find out just how good the stuff is when you are trying to quickly insert the bottom plug back in after filling the case!!
