System check not working on brand new Evinrude

I have just installed my brand new Evinrude Ram Ficht 90 hp. The engine is running but the system check does not work. Is there something that I have to reset or what can be the problem?<br /><br />BR Jörgen

Does the system check go thru its beep and turning the warning lites on and off after you turn the key to ON?<br /><br />Are you using a System Check tach or the 2" gauge?

I´m using the System Check tach and the doesn´t beep or turn on the lights when turning th igniton on.<br /><br />Themodel year is 2003

All the electronics are inside the tach. If it doesn't work, then the wiring connection is not fully seated (use dialectric grease), the wiring is bad, broken or incorrect, or the tach itself is bad.<br /><br />do the rest of the gauges work OK when the key in ON?

system check gauge wiring<br /><br /> here's the pin configuration (looking at the back-side of the gauge, holding it upright):<br /><br />1-2-3-4<br />8-7-6-5<br /><br />Purple wire goes to pin 1 - 12V positive<br />Black wire goes to pin 2 - ground (earth)<br />Gray wire goes to pin 3 - tach signal<br /><br />Grounding these pins, will activate the following:<br /><br />Pin 4, turn on no oil lite<br />Pin 5, turn on low oil lite<br />Pin 7, turn on check engine lite<br />Pin 6, turn on hot lite<br /><br />Pin 8, is used to activate the warning horn, it supplies a ground to the horn circuit when any other warning circuit (pins 4 thru 7) is grounded

Set tach to position 6.
