Hi guys,
I had to replace all my gauges on my Evinrude Etec 90Hp (E90DPXSUM) 09/2006
To keep the cost down, I used non-genuine gauges. The problem I have is that the SystemCheck self-test function lights don’t work nor does the warning horn,

I have been told that I have to buy a genuine tachometer with the SystemCheck for it to work. Is this correct or can I still get it to work?

Below is the way I have wired the tachometer and SystemCheck gauges

E-Tec 8-Pin Connector
1 – Purple – (Positive Pole)
2 – Black -- (Negative Pole)
3 – Gray (RPM Signal)
4 – Tan/Yellow -- (Oil)
5 – Tan/Black
6 – Tan -- (Temp)
7 – Tan/Orange -- (Chk Eng)
8 -- Tan/blue (Warning Horn)

KUS Volt Meter, Oil, Temp, CHK ENG,
1 – Blue (Chk Eng) to E-Tec 8-Pin Connector--Tan/Orange
2 -- Red (Positive Pole) to E-Tec 8-Pin Connector--Purple
3 -- Black (Volts) to E-Tec 8-Pin Connector-- Purple
4 – Orange (Temp) to E-Tec 8-Pin Connector – Tan
5 – Yellow to E-Tec 8-Pin Connector – Tan/Yellow

E-Tec 3 Ring Terminal Connector (Tachometer)
1 – Black
2 – Purple
3 -- Grey

KUS Tachometer RPM Meter
1 – Blue (Earth) to E-Tec 3 Ring Terminal Connector – Black
2 – Red (Positive Pole) to E-Tec Ring Terminal Connector – Purple
3 – Black (To RPM Signal) to E-Tec Ring Terminal Connector – Grey
4 -- Orange (Red Light) --- NOT IN USE
5 – Yellow (Yellow Light) – to E-Tec Ring Terminal Connector – Purple

Faria and a couple of other gauge manufacturers make System Check tachometers, for OMC products. These have the 4 lights on them. They accept the 8 pin connector.
I am not sure if the system check alarm wires for all but overheat work the same way as other gauges. Good luck with your problem.
