My brother in law found it at a garage sale and gave it to me. I just bought my first bass boat a couple of months ago and was just wondering what the benefits of adding it would be. The boat is an '82 and it's running on a 1983 Evinrude 110hp outboard. I'm totally in the dark here, so any comments and/or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mauricio

Moves the motor up and back into cleaner water and by doing this you can get an rpm increase by actually running the prop out of the water at speed. This of course requires using a cupped prop. the higher the setting the more blade($$$$) you must run on the prop to keep the original amount of prop surface area in the water. There can be a 5 MPH gain in speed or more in some circumstances. If your boat is doing less than 40 MPH it would not pay to do these mods as your performance gains would be marginal. In addition this all stresses the lower unit because of offset thrust on the prop shaft, so the lower unit must be in tip top shape and watched closely. You will start to feel incresed torq in the stearing as the engine is raised also. And the last consideration, noise will increase considerably and you will have to install a water pressure gauge as the water pick up will be running near the surface at speed. There are several other considerations also, but this will give you a basic starting point
