OK here goes, on my 71 johnson 60, someone removed the thermostat, should I put one in?

Second, on the top right of the cylinder head, there is what appears to be a temp sensor in the water jacket, the wire is broke off, should I reconnect it? What does it send a signal to? There is also something missing on the left side of the engine that mounts on the exhaust cooling plate and two wires that come from the power box that lead to nothing, anyone know what that might have been?

Thanks a lot

oldjohnson,

Yes, you need the t-stat.

The wire from the heat ssensor connects to the tan wire in the vacinity. It sounds a horn in the control box. Once hooked up, you can test it by grounding it.

Not sure about the component missing on the exhaust cover?
