T/T on Throttle making motor lose power?

I have 2001 Yamaha 200 HP motor. When I launch the boat and take a test run as I usually do around the bay the motor runs great, once I tilt or trim the motor from the throttle, the motor cuts in and out and losses power like when the high temp alarm goes and cuts the rpm's back to limp back to shore. Could this be a relay issue or t/t motor issue, I have no clue...

could be a short, and tilting causes the frayed wire or whatever to ground. Try observnig it at night and look for sparks. Have someone operate the TT from the motor to see if there's a short in your throttle connection.

One thing about boats: the things that shouldn't affect each other (like trim and carbs) often do, in mysterious ways!

carefully check all your cables and battery connections.
carefully test your alarm horn.
if you have the yamaha speedo then watch for the low battery alarm flashing.
if the ECU on that engine detects low battery voltage it will go into bypass mode and set an alarm.

Well now the T/T on the motor doesn't work, but it still does on the throttle.
