Re: T TOPS pros and cons

T-tops are great on a fishing boat. A nice area for some radio and a little storage. The boat remains open for fishing without anything in the way. They offer almost no shade or protection from sun or rain. My boats are used 97% for fishing and after several with T-tops my CCs all had a bimini. After decades of fishing and running charters I still find a cuddy the most versatile and comfortable.

Pro: A T top can offer shade but it depends how big and how high it is. Good for some equipment. Not in the way fishing.

Con: expense, added weight, slows the boat some at high speed (and drag on the trailer). low clearance for going under bridges, and storage.

I got a 21' CC and planned to add a T top but after a season with the bimini decided to stick with it. It gives great shade and is not in the way all that much. But I can leave it off for 9 months, and the winter is when I do a lot of fishing around the bridges.

how about start with a bimini and see if that suits?
