After replacing the my trim motor and testing the trim wire my tach started acting up.

On startup it works fine, but when it get to 2000 or 3000 rpm’s it stop and will bounce back up when I hit the trim… Sounds to me like some sort of ground issue.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this??

Thanks for your time..

Use search word regulator and before you buy new regulator/rectifier check and clean all connections.

Check all Connections before goign forward. The symptoms sound exactly like what happened to my reg/rectifier before it went. turned out i had a bad ground that eventually fried the rectifier. my guess is your replacement of the trim pump you might have missed complete tightening a wire somewhere.
