Tried a search but didn't come up with this one.
When I first start the motor my tach jumps way up and then beings to settle down to where the motor is actually idling. Saturday I noticed when I hit the trim button to go up or down when the motor is running the tach goes carzy. AS soon as I let my finger off the trim its fine.
Whats the story?
Its a 3.0L Merc Alpha GenII

Re: Tach acting up

Steve,

Have a stern word with your tacho and tell it to stop acting up! :D

Ok, what I'd be looking for is a loose (or corroded) connection somewhere, or a damaged wire in the tacho circuit (power, ground, signal). My best bet is on the ground wire. Also make sure all the engine grounds are good too.

Chris..............
