Tach flicker

Took the boat out for the first time yesterday.

Each time I moved the trim up or down the tach would do a little 'flicker' or 'jump'.

Any reason to be concerned about this?

Re: Tach flicker

it's more than likely loose or corrodes grounds in the boat, i'd start at the battery, work towards the engine, then up to the helm.

Up to you if you want to worry about it. The trim pump motor has to work extra hard to work when the grounds are bad.

Thanks, I'll fish around and see what I can find.

Re: Tach flicker

Mine would do that even without touching a thing like the trim. I fixed it by turning the number of cyclinders dial around on the back of the gauge. I guess turning it around a little cleaned up the connection.

I would see mine creeping up to 2K to 3K RPMs when it was idleing and then drop back down to 650RPM. I have turned the dial a few times over the last couple years to fix the flicker.

Never would have thought of that - sounds 'too easy'. :D

Will take a look.
