Tach from control box?

I have an old 69 Mercury 80HP outboard with a broken Tach. It worked about 5 years ago, but after setting around, it won't do a thing. I looked at the connectors, and they seem fine. There's some condensation inside it, so I donno if it's shorted out or what.

I couldn't tell for sure, but it seems the tach wire comes from the control box. Any place I could get a replacement? Either original or one that would look decent and work on this boat...

Re: Tach from control box?

Can I get one that would definetly work with this control box? Preferably a cheaper one as I would like to also get a matching speedo, but not spend much money on it.

A few new bits...The current tach runs off 2 wires. There is a 3rd from the control box, but it goes to nothing. Only 2 terminals on the back for the tach. Also, the engine says to only use tachs specially designed for it. Uh...quicksilver, if I remember correctly. The old one is a quicksilver/airguide.
