Tach is too high

I have a 5.0 Mercruiser 1998 and my idle is set for 700rpm but my tach reads 1300. tach moves when you give it throttle but I want to replace the tach. I picked up a tach but it said ot to use it on Thunderbolt ignition. Any one knoe of a good tach that I can use.

On the back of the tach you have now make sure the little switch is set to the proper setting for the number of cylinders of your engine.
