tach on manual start?

will a universal outboard tach work on a manual start yamaha 30 horse?...2001 I have read the aplication charts for them but they dont specify manual or electric start. Thanks

there is a small panel in the boat for a regular tach. Thats what i would like to use but i just would like to know it it will work with a manual start motor. I have emailed teleflex and got no reply.
