Hi All, I've got a Force 70HP engine and recently connected a tach. I Only started the engine 2 times since I installed the tach. First time the tach showed approx. 1000RPM at idle. Second time I had 2000RPM idle with the engine running at the same rpm's as the first time. Does anyone has any idea what can be wrong? My first idea was that there's something wrong with the voltage regulator, but I can see that the voltage is 13,5V when the engine is running. Thanks.

Look on the back of the tach and make sure it is set to 6P. If you don't have a 6P on there let us know what kind of tach you have.

I've got a teleflex tach (LIDO) and it is set to 6P.

Test your rectifier/regulator according to your manual.
