Tach problems

MY TACH IS ACTING FUNNY . IT DOES'T LOOK LIKE IT IS RESPONDING CORRECTLY. THE NEEDLE LOOSELY RESEMBLES THE TRUE READING. WHAT SHOULD i BE LOOKING FOR AS A SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM

check tach setting on back of tach my have corrosion

check the connections at back of gauge

check the engine/boat plug barrel connection look for corrosion there in the pins

check the gray wire on tach

your problem is probably a faulty tach
