tach question 175 1997 mariner.

TAch works and then does not work. Looked at all the connections and they are tight. Any way to check this out. Any recommendations?????

Your rectifier may be failing. Monitor the battery voltage with a meter or your depth finder if it has that capability and is connected to the starting battery. When the tach fails note the voltage and see if it has dropped.

There might be a pole selector switch in the back that is grungy. (technical term) Note where it's set (probably 6) then rock it back and forth through it's range, then put it back where you found it.

If yer an antique phat phart like me, the battery voltage test is easier. It's a toss up as to which it is.
