Tach question 4 stroke to 2 stroke?

I bought a 2002 Larson 210 that originally had a 4 stroke engine. I'm putting a '86 Blackmax 150 on it. The original tach is still in the boat and it's a Faria and on the back says "Universal." It has what looks like to be a knob for several pole settings, but is it going to work on a 2 stroke?

It's the larger cutout 4 1/4" as well where the tach is combined with the trim gauge, so I'm hoping I can still use it, but is it incompatible with a 2 stroke?

Thanks for the insight!

Will work. Yours need to be set to 12p.

The tach runs off the alternator. It only cares how many poles are in that alternator. It doesn't care if the engine goes squish-bang, or suck, squish, bang, phart.
