As I understand it there are two types of tach hookups, either alternator driven (hooked to rectifier) or ignition driven (hooked to switchbox). Mine is hooked to switchbox on 68 Merc 1000. If I buy a new tach with the adjustable pole settings do I just unhook the wire from the gray terminal at the switchbox and connect it to rectfier? Is the plastic block where the stator wires and rectifier wires meet a good spot to tap into the rectifier?
