My Tach just stopped working on my 97 Merc 150. It looks like the gauge is still good because the needle moves when you turn the key, but nothing when the boat is running. Any suggestions.

Re: Tach Stopped Working

It sounds like the rectifier/ regulator is bad.

If you have a dual regulator 40 amp system, move the tach wire (gray) to the other regulator for a test.

Sometimes one's bad and the other isn't.

hope it helps

The good advice you already received in the above posts should help you figure out the cause of your problem. If it does not, a multi-meter and the below linked troubleshooting guide may be of help to you too.
