ok so I got a tach to work finally however it is showing around 1400 rpm at idle and is off while in forward or reverse. I have it set at 10p as I was told that is the setting for a 20 pole motor. my question is now, the back of the tach has a CAL. hole in it should i turn that to adjust the needle? Or is it on the wrong setting still I had heard it was suppose to be on a 4p setting but from what i had read and been told it is suppose to be half the poles on the actual boat.

Re: tach update

So just to clarify what thing are you talking about? the pole setting or the cal setting hole? thanks again.
i mean it still gave me a ball park on my rpms i just subtracted idle speed from wide open throttle. put me around 4300 with about 700 lbs in the boat so i need a new prop but want to have a more accurate reading to give the people at the prop shop.
