Hello forum,
I have a 1986 Force 125hp. I am trying to see if my tach works or not. I removed it from the dash and am testing it with all new wires right next to the engine to prove it works before looking into the wiring harness for any issues. I wire a hot wire from the power stud on the tach straight to the battery and did the same with the ground. I then wired a wire from the signal stud on the tach to the purple wire on my engines terminal block. Nothing worked. My question is where is the signal coming from. I am not sure that somone dont have something crossed on the terminal block. I have burnt wires under my dash and am now questioning some of the wiring. The purple wire on the terminal block is sharing a wire across from that looks to be one of the yellow stator wires. Is this right? If not were should it be going to?
